Oh, that one is Everest!

Despite its great height, Mount Everest from this distance is somewhat anticlimactic. Much smaller mountains like Mount Rainier in Washington State or Mount Fuji in Japan seem more imposing than Everest because they stand alone.

Below my outstretched hand in the photo, you can just make out a dark brown structure on the next hill. This is the Hotel Everest View, the world's highest hotel (about 3,800 meters). Built by a Japanese company to cater to Japanese trekkers, it is by far the most elaborate facility in the entire Khumbu region. Electric lights, flushing toilets, you name it!
