Nepal 1996

Jan's trip journal and photos

In November 1996, I went to Nepal with my mom Lyn, brother Chris, and sister Skye.

Chris was in the midst of his round-the-world travels, and often heard wonderful stories from travelers who had been to Nepal. In early 1996, he and I hatched the idea of meeting up in Nepal and going on a trek (hike). Our mother and sister later decided they would join in our adventure.

Mom and Skye flew to Seattle in the middle of November, hooked up with me, and the three of us flew to Nepal. (This was a long trip.)

We enjoyed a joyous family reunion with Chris outside Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, amidst the company of several dozen pushy taxi drivers.

The four of us together did a two week trek through the Annapurna region of Nepal. Read the journal and see some photos from the Annapurna Trek.

Afterwards, Mom and Skye returned to Seattle, and Chris and I went on a brief trek through the Khumbu (Everest) region. See the photos from the Khumbu Trek.
