Todaiji Temple in Nara is the largest wooden building in the world, constructed to house an enormous statue of a seated Buddha. In the back of the temple, there's a big pillar with a hole through the base of it. The hole is supposed to be the same size as the nostrils in the nose of the Buddha statue. If you can squeeze through the hole, you're supposed to receive eternal happiness or something like that. Whatever it is, Jan's now got that going for him, which is nice.
