Anya's Third Birthday

October 19, 2004

In advance of Anya's birthday, we asked her what she might like for a present. Her reply: "Balloons". We passed this request along to her party guests: just bring a balloon as a present. This works out great! Anya loves the balloons and there's nothing to unwrap. (A three year old can take hours to unwrap a big pile of gifts.)

Before the party starts, Anya sets the table with Angela's help.
(Anya has already received a giant cat balloon.)

Since Anya's birthday is just a little before Halloween, for her third birthday we select a pumpkin theme. Letting three year olds carve a pumpkin is a scary prospect, so we settle on decorating pumpkins instead. The week before the party, we cut up a bunch of black paper to make piles of face parts (noses, mouths, etc.), purchase some googly eyes, and come up with some other fashionable pumpkin accessories like little witch hats.
